Highlighting Great IT Projects our Clients Love

A look at the IT projects we have delivered for UK businesses, and the results that keep our clients coming back.

Moving a travel company’s entire email domain overnight, with zero disruption

A high-end travel company needed every user moved from one domain to another before staff logged in the next morning. We tested the cutover first, caught a hidden fault that would have silenced a team's inbox, and fixed it before migrating everyone overnight.

Changing a Company’s domain touches everything: every user account, every group, every signature, every integration that checks a login against an email address. Get one part wrong and people show up to a broken inbox, or worse, one that looks fine and quietly drops mail. This client needed the switch done overnight, with the whole team back online and working normally by the time the office opened.

The plan

We moved every user’s primary email address from the old domain to the new one in a single overnight window. The old domain stayed live as an alias, so nothing sent to the previous address bounced, and nobody had to update contacts or resend anything. Staff logged in the next morning with their existing password and saw no change to how Gmail worked day to day.

Staff members were informed beforehand so they knew that when they came in that morning they would have a new email, with everything from their old inbox exactly where it should be.

The fault testing caught

We never migrate everyone in one pass and hope. Before the overnight cutover, we ran the move on a small test group and watched how mail behaved. That test proved useful.

The test department’s email group stopped delivering. Messages sent to the group address showed up in the Google Groups web interface, but members never received them in their inbox. Nothing bounced, and nothing looked broken from the admin console.

We worked through the usual suspects first: group access permissions, moderation settings, membership records, DNS routing. Each one checked out. The actual cause sat one level down, in each member’s individual delivery preference for that specific group, which had reset during the account changes without any error or warning.

Once we found it, the fix took minutes. Finding it took methodically ruling out everything else, because a partial mail failure like this gives almost no signal about where it’s going wrong. We corrected the setting, confirmed mail flowed, and built the same fix into the plan for the full migration.

The result

Because testing caught the group fault first, the overnight migration ran clean. Every user was up and working the next morning, with no lost mail and no support calls about login problems. The one problem that could have silenced an inbox for weeks was found and fixed before it reached the wider team.

A new office network, built and tested before moving day

A growing London-based business needed to relocate. We designed and deployed the network in their new premises and had it working before a single employee walked in.

An office move is one of the riskiest IT events a business faces. If the network is not ready on day one, a team of 10 to 15 people sits idle, and that costs real money. This client wanted a high-speed, secure, and reliable network before anyone arrived.

What we built

We handled the whole network: security, switching and wireless, built on Ubiquiti’s UniFi platform so every device reports to one controller. That keeps day-to-day management simple and lets us monitor the whole network from anywhere.

The setup has three layers:

  • Perimeter security. A Ubiquiti UniFi Gateway (UXG) runs as the firewall and router, handling the internet uplink, NAT, routing between networks, and threat filtering.
  • Core switching. A UniFi PoE switch powers every access point and wired device over the network cable, so no node needs its own power supply.
  • Wireless. Several UniFi access points cover the office with Wi-Fi 6, and no dead spots.

Keeping traffic separated

Putting every device on one flat network is a security and performance risk. We split the traffic into separate VLANs:

  • Corporate. Work machines and business-critical devices, with tight rules on what can reach what.
  • Guest. Internet access for visitors, with no route into your systems.
  • Devices. Printers, smart devices and anything unmanaged, kept away from the work machines.

The gateway enforces these boundaries, so a compromised guest or IoT device cannot reach corporate data.

Ready before the move

We installed, configured and tested everything in the new office before the client’s move date:

  • Cabling and a structured patch panel
  • The UniFi controller, set up with site-wide policies
  • Wi-Fi networks with WPA3 encryption and band steering
  • DNS and DHCP, with fixed addresses for key devices
  • A VPN for secure remote management
  • Speed and signal tests at every desk and meeting room

The team arrived to a working network. Everyone was online within the first 10 minutes, and nobody reported a connectivity problem during or after the move.

What happens now

Because everything runs on UniFi, we keep remote eyes on the whole network. We handle firmware updates, configuration changes, traffic checks and alerts centrally, so the client gets a fully managed network without hiring anyone in-house.

Cutting a five-figure Dropbox bill using storage they already paid for

While setting up DKIM and DMARC for a boutique clothing brand, we found they paid close to five figures a year for Dropbox, even though their Google Workspace licences already included terabytes of unused Drive storage.

A boutique clothing brand hired us to tighten their email security with SPF, DKIM and DMARC. While auditing their Google Workspace, we spotted a costly overlap. Their licences already included several terabytes of Google Drive storage, sitting unused, yet they still paid close to five figures a year for Dropbox.

How we moved them across

Once the client signed off, we planned and ran a full Dropbox to Google Drive migration for 40 users, in four stages:

  • Audit. We catalogued the whole Dropbox setup: folder structure, each user’s permissions, and which files needed their version history kept.
  • Migration. We copied the full dataset to Google Drive and mirrored the folder layout and sharing permissions exactly. Historical file versions came across too.
  • Testing. We ran integrity checks, then gave a pilot group access to validate everything in real use before the wider rollout.
  • Cutover and training. We agreed a switch-over date, retired Dropbox, and trained every user on Google Drive the same day so nobody lost momentum.

The result

The move caused no disruption to daily work. The business cancelled its Dropbox subscription, saving the annual fee, and consolidated onto one platform it already paid for, with stronger admin controls and native links to the rest of Google Workspace.

“Pantheon came in and immediately identified some really useful security updates and changes to our workflow which resulted in saving thousands of pounds per year. Pantheon are really lovely to work with: quick, efficient and on budget. We’ll be using Pantheon for our IT solutions moving forward.”
